Men Chow: But if we are Taoists
or Buddhists, are we not protected from the Dark
Side?
Fu Hsiang: If we only practice chi
kung for health, we are not likely to make
ourselves a target. But if we practice the higher
forms of chi kung, to prepare ourselves
to leave the Earth plane or we aspire to be
spiritual teachers, then we will be targeted.
Men Chow: How will this manifest
itself?
Fu Hsiang: This depends on
character and circumstance. We may be betrayed or
attacked by own family or friends. We may have
trouble at work. We may be prone to doubt and
fear of all kinds. Anything that causes us to
despair and give up will be the goal of the
attack. In rare cases, the attack can be direct,
and the aspirant will be assailed by ghostly
powers that can cause fear or create sickness in
the body.
Men Chow: Can such a power be
beaten?
Fu Hsiang: The Dark Side cannot
be destroyed. Its resources are vast. Nor can it
be outsmarted. To fall into attacking those who
are its tools only feeds the Dark Side itself.
The aspirant must cling to his practice with iron
discipline and not be distracted. 90
